During the concept phase of a project we develop an understanding of the requirements relating to time, cost and performance. As the project is defined in greater detail the relationship between these three parameters becomes clearer, risks are identified and procedures drawn up for monitoring and controlling progress.
As we enter the implementation phase issues arise and the project manager is faced with the reality of change. Project controls are designed to manage the potential impacts of these changes in order that informed action can be taken. Decisions made during delivery will affect time, cost and performance in different ways.
- Which of these three is the critical element?
- How can changes in one area influence the others?
- What can be done to ensure that the project still delivers the critical benefits required in the business case?
Controlling the balance between time, cost and performance whilst delivering the benefits to the business requires both skilled management and competent leadership.
- How do the skills and competences required to manage and lead successful projects differ between roles?
- What are the fundamental attributes of a successful project professional in order to balance the conflicting demands of time, cost and performance?
The Conference will link project success with planning, leadership, technical skills, and communication. High profile examples of success and failure as well as anecdotes from real-life project experiences will be incorporated throughout to bring the subject to life and engage the audience into greater participation.
